Will: In the name of God, Amen. This 21st day of April, 1784. I, SAMUEL SACKETT, of the Manor of Cortlandt, Westchester County, Minister of the Gospel in Christ, being weak in body. I give to my grandson, Joseph Sackett, my riding saddle and bridle and ten shillings. Whereas I am bound as security in several obligations for my son Nathaniel, for which he has conveyed to me by deed his farm in Dutchess County, as security, I therefore will my executors to sell the said farm, and discharge the said obligations, and return the overplus, if any, to my said son Nathaniel, and whereas he now is indebted to me for monies lent I order he pay the same to my executors. To my loving wife Hannah, her choice of my beds, with all my flax and wool, and the wool which shall be taken off my sheep this spring, my looking glass and six silver table-spoons. My negro woman Sill, my household goods and stock and moveable estate to be sold and the moneys with all my other moneys to be for the support of my wife so long as she shall live. I bequeath my library with all my books to my wife Hannah, Hannah Bauldin and James Sackett. To my son James, all my land in the Precinct of New Cornwell, Ulster County. His profession took him to all parts of Orange, Ulster and Sullivan County, which were at the time being settled by former residents of Long Island. William Sacket always omitted the last "t" in signing his name. He became interested in the mills and general store conducted by his father-in-law. Where or when this Anna Catherina (Schneider) Haner died is unknown, whether in Germany, In England, or on board ship. Living conditions were incredibly poor, and hundreds of emigrants died of sickness or malnutrition during the trip. We do not know why they decided to emigrate, in addition to the hard winter of 1708/1709 and unrest in the war-torn countryside. It is possible that they and perhaps 1 or 2 very young children started out in 1709 with the other Palatines, headed for Holland, then to London and eventually in 1710 to America. It is written that the Palatine emigrants traveled down the Rhine in an intrepid mood, even with bagpipes playing, ready for a great adventure. They had little real knowledge of where they were headed. Maude was second wife to Archie Samuel Dixon. She had two sons by him. Archie had a son by a previous marriage. Maude Margaret Searles Dixon House Chitty stated repeatedly that her Grandmother was Lucinda Marsh. Lucinda was a Psychic who was always aware of the whereabouts and health status of all her children, siblings, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins etc. When one would die, she would shriek and swoon at that same time . She was also reported to have been a practicing Medium who held seances. Attempting to disassociate herself from such activities, she found that the "spirits" would not leave her alone.
Lucinda lived with one of her daughters. She went to visit another daughter at some distance journey from her home. On the trip, she was caught in a rainstorm, got drenched, and developed a cold. On arrival at her destination, Lucinda's daughter put her to bed. The cold had progressed to Pneumonia. Laying in bed, Lucinda recalled that there was a letter from one daughter to the other. Asking for her handbag , she appeared to take an invisible letter from it, then proceeded to read the contents of it outloud to those at her bedside. Folding the unseen letter, Lucinda returned it to her handbag, and expired shortly thereafter.
At the funeral, family members were relating anecdotes about Lucinda. The daughter at whose home Lucinda had expired said to her sister who had come to the funeral, "Mother did the strangest thing before she died. She read us a letter from you, telling us your news." Her sister replied, " I did write that letter, it's still on the mantlepiece over the fireplace at home." | Maude Margaret May SEARLES

The Dutch often added "Van" meaning "from" to the name of the town they had lived in Holland, to their own name to identify their family. The British, who took over New Amsterdam and made it New York, pronounced the name "Outhousen" and by 1695 it became Outhouse.
Klaes sold his land in Brooklyn in 1693, moving farther out on Long Island to Bushwick.
