      HOPEDALE, Ill. - Gary W. Orrison, 63, of Hopedale, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
      He was born Dec. 27, 1948, in Peoria to Cecil and Geneva Outhouse Orrison. He married Carol Roeschley on Feb. 23, 1969, in Morton.
      Surviving are his wife, Carol Orrison of Hopedale; one son, Matthew (Melinda) Orrison of Tolono; and two sisters, Patricia Orrison of Tremont and Linda Orrison of Festus, Mo.
      He was preceded in death by his parents.
      Gary was a 1967 graduate of Morton High School. He was an Army veteran, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
      He was employed at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 30 years, retiring in 2002 as an assembler. He then worked part time as a courier at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
      He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 974 in East Peoria.
      Gary was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. An outdoorsman, he loved to travel and work in his garden.
      A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, with an Apostolic Christian church minister officiating. There will be no visitation.
      Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is in charge of arrangements.
      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peoria Rescue Mission, 601 SW Adams St., Peoria, IL 61602 or to the Southside Mission, 1127 S. Laramie St., Peoria, IL 61605.
