  • Notes
    • Notes for OLIVE MARIE ALSOP: Olive was the last Alsop owner of La Vue, and as she supposedly died intestate, La Vue was inherited by Herman Swanson. He purposedly disinherited the Alsops in his will, giving $200,000 to Hampton-Sidney, La Vue to his attorney on a lifetime will, only $5,000 to the sole Alsop to receive anything, Olive's sister Blanche, and after a number of small bequests, the bulk of the estate went to the Educational Fund of his college fraternity, Chi Phi. The Alsop papers, pictures, and personal property were scattered by his attorney, and during the decade after Herman's death historical Alsop photographs and documents could be found for sale at a number of the wretched "antique" shops in the Northern Virginia area.
