Ancestry World Tree, post-it note by Linda Wilbur (lwilbur@cablespeed.com), 27 Sep 2006-- Emanuel Henika served as a private in Colonel DuBois' Regiment of the 5th NY line in the Revolutionary War. Emanuel lies buried in Lord Cemetery, Town of Gorham, Ontario Co., NY. On Saturday, September 23rd, 2006, a new bronze plaque citing his service was dedicated. (This new marker is located at the base of his well-preserved tombstone.) The unveiling was done by Emanuel's 3rd great grandson, Morgan Henika.

It is evident that Emanuel Henika had more than one wife. Rachel Henika, wife of Emanuel, is also found buried in Lord Cemetery. She died 4 September, 1829 at the age of 66...making her birth year circa 1763. It is quite evident from the list of children given for Emanuel and Johanna that she could not possibly have been born in 1757 and been the mother of all of them! So when did Johanna die? Which of Emanuel's children were Johanna's and which were Rachel's? Could there possibly have been another wife between Johanna and Rachel? These questions remain for future Henika family researchers to answer.
