- For most of his life he was known as Bert (Albert ) . The Albert listed on his younger brothers and sisters Birth Certificates is actually Alexander. He was enrolled in school as Albert Mann. His eldest son was named Albert Andrew after him. He was a witness at his brother James wedding where he was listed as Albert Andrew Mann. Alexander had seven sons, all of whom served Australia in wartime, six in world war two and one in the Korean war. Two sons were killed (ken and Walter ) and Ben was wounded in action. Another son Les was recommended for a medal and was promoted in the field. He was the son of John and Sarah Jane Allen CARLYLE MANN.
