Stoughton - Robert Allan Watson, age 83, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008. Bob was born in Edgerton on Oct. 15, 1925. He attended Stoughton Schools with the class of 1944. He worked for a time at Uniroyal and was employed for 26 years with Rein, Schultz and Dahl doing road construction in Wisconsin and Illinois. Since that work was seasonal, he often spent the winters purchasing and restoring houses which became rental properties. Bob also owned and operated the Watson Cab Co. in Stoughton from 1950-53. Bob liked driving his Model A Ford in parades and tours and enjoyed his friends in the Model A Restorers Club. He enjoyed gardening and his daily visits with the gang at Amundson's garage. He liked a good game of euchre and enjoyed his card playing friends at White Rock and the VFW. He was proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed their visits. On April 10, 1949, Bob married Alice Outhouse and together they enjoyed travelling and camping in every state. Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Alice; and their daughter, Barbara (James) Lathrop of Hawkins; two sons, John (Diana Smiley) of Edgerton, and Jeffrey (Janice) of Seattle; two grandsons, Jason (Katy) Lathrop of Edgerton, and James C. (Carrie) Lathrop of Eau Claire; two granddaughters, Alma Watson and Maeve Watson both of Seattle; a great-granddaughter, Claire Lathrop and two step-great-granddaughters, Kayla and Katie Johnson of Eau Claire; a sister-in-law, Ruth Metzler and a brother-in-law, Robert (Ardys) Outhouse both of Stoughton; a brother, Ronald (Jacki) Bredeson of Oconto Falls; and sisters-in-law, Lucille, Blanche, Maria and Catherine Outhouse. He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Theodora Hanson; a son, Daniel; and a brother, Richard Bredeson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at 11:15 a.m. at STOUGHTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 525 Lincoln Ave., Stoughton, with the Rev. Lamarr Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Oregon. The family will greet friends at the OLSON-HOLZHUTER-CRESS FUNERAL HOME in Stoughton on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and again at church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of Janesville, or to the Stoughton United Methodist Church.
