  • Notes
    • Simon of Northcastle born ca. 1735/45 was in jail 1 Aug 1783 on suspicion of robbing Paulus Levtz (NYGBR 104:12) sold his Northcastle property and removed to Haarlem. R10 and R34 believe that Simon tried to sell his inheritance before leaving New York for Canada but was arrested on trumped up charges by someone who wanted his land. He claimed losses for land and property to the English Government from New Brunswick but it is not known if he ever received anything or if he actually sold his land in New York. R57 has copies of letters showing Simon petitioned for land in New Brunswick as a former soldier but never received it as his petition was received too late.
Simon joined the Westchester Loyalists and was evacuated to New Brunswick in 1783. There he was granted 3 acres of land between Ramshack Bay and Fox Harbor at Sackville.
