A.H. Adams to Observe 95th Anniversary
Alexander H. Adams, retired telegrapher, will observe his 95th birthday anniversary tomorrow at his home, 124 Park avenue. Mr. Adams was for many years manager of the local Western Union Telegraph office. No special celebration is planned.
In fair health, Mr. Adams makes frequent trips to the business section to greet friends and acquaintances. He was born in Cheshire but has spent most of his life in Canandaigua, village and city. Learrning telegraphy from the late William J. Coye, he served a year at Skaneateles, thrree years at Watkins Glen and then succeeded his instructor as manager of the local office, a position he held for 40 years.
His family circle includes two daughters, Mrs. C.A. Pusey, with whom he makes his home, and Mrs. George Armitage, White street; three grandchildren, John Alexander Pusey and Miss Dorothy Jean Armitage, Rochester; amd Mrs. Glenn R. Lord, this city; and two great grandchildren, John and Linda Lord.

Alexnader Howell Adams, 96, of 124 Park avenue died last evening after a long period of failing health. For 40 years, Mr. Adams was manager of the Canandaigua office of the Western Union Telegraph office.
Born in Cheshire, Canandaigua town, October 15, 1852, he was the son of John Shannon and Abigail Outhouse Adams, and had resided in this city the greater part of his life. He learned telegraphy in 1880 under the supervision of William J. Coye, then manager of the local telegraph office. After he became proficient, he was frequently entrusted to handle the telegraph file during the manager's absence. After serving a few weeks at Skanatales he returned to Canandaigua to take over the position of office manager

Mr. Watkins was transferred to Watkins in 1884 and three years later returned to Canandaigua, where he remained permanently until his retirement from service in March, 1927. In 1884, Mr. Adams married Miss Jennie Lathbury, of Manchester, who died in March 1939.
Until about 18 months ago, Mr. Adams was a daily visitor in the business section and was proud of his flourishing vegetable and flower garden which he planted and tended until two years ago. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. George Armitage and Mrs. Caroline A. Pusey, this city; three grandchildren, Dorothy Jean Armitage and John Alexander Pusey, Rochester and Mrs. Glenn R. Lord, this city; two great grandchildren, John R. and Linda L. Lord; also two nieces and a nephew, Mrs. Charles Shufelt, Brockport; Mrs. Roy Bird, Newark and Lewis Hollenback, Phelps.
Funeral sevices will be held from the Kennedy funeral chapel, Bristol street, Saturday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Lloyd V. Moffett, B.D., pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Alexander H. Adams of Park avenue, were guests of honor yesterday at a golden wedding anniversary party in their home. Mr. and Mrs. Adams have lived in this city since their marriage. For 40 years, Mr. Adams was Western Union manager.
Miss Jennie E. Lathbury and Alexander H. Adams were married in Manchester, July 29, 1894. Miss Lathbury was a cousin of Mary A. Lathbury, poet and songwriter. Mr. and Mrs. Adams have two daughters, Mrs. George Armitage and Mrs. Caroline Pusey and three grandchildren, Dorothy Armitage, and Betty and John Pusey.
Gold and blue were used to decorate the house, with gold tapers in crystal candlesticks and yellow roses on the table. Dishes presented to Mrs. Adams mother on her 30th wedding anniversary were used. Mrs. J.W. Lewis presided.
Out of town guests were Mrs. J.W. Adams of Lewistown Heights, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Simmons of Niagara Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shufelt, of Phelps, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bird, of Port Gibson, Mrs. Charles DeWoody of Port Jervis, and Miss Augusta Lathbury, of Manchester. The latter two were guests at the wedding 50 years ago.
