Mr. and Mrs. Alexander H. Adams of Park avenue, were guests of honor yesterday at a golden wedding anniversary party in their home. Mr. and Mrs. Adams have lived in this city since their marriage. For 40 years, Mr. Adams was Western Union manager.
Miss Jennie E. Lathbury and Alexander H. Adams were married in Manchester, July 29, 1894. Miss Lathbury was a cousin of Mary A. Lathbury, poet and songwriter. Mr. and Mrs. Adams have two daughters, Mrs. George Armitage and Mrs. Caroline Pusey and three grandchildren, Dorothy Armitage, and Betty and John Pusey.
Gold and blue were used to decorate the house, with gold tapers in crystal candlesticks and yellow roses on the table. Dishes presented to Mrs. Adams mother on her 30th wedding anniversary were used. Mrs. J.W. Lewis presided.
Out of town guests were Mrs. J.W. Adams of Lewistown Heights, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Simmons of Niagara Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shufelt, of Phelps, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bird, of Port Gibson, Mrs. Charles DeWoody of Port Jervis, and Miss Augusta Lathbury, of Manchester. The latter two were guests at the wedding 50 years ago.
