  • Notes
    • He is the son of John and Mary BRUNDAGE LEVERICH. He was a farmer and carpenter and lived in Cortlandt and Yorktown townships in Westchester County. He served as Justice of the Peace and Postmaster in Cortlandt. --- Benjamin is said to have "served on Long Island during the War of 1812" (Leverich Family Genealogy). He would have been about 19 years old, the same age his grandson George Albert Cruger was when he enlisted in the Army during the Civil War.

In 1850 he was living in Yorktown, Westchester County, New York, with his wife and two children, William and George, and earned a living as a farmer (U.S. Census).

Benjamin, wife Mary, and son George were living in Yorktown, Westchester, New York, in June of 1860 (U.S. Census).

At age 77, in July of 1870, he was living in Cortlandt, Westchester, New York, with Mary and, apparently, two boarders, and his occupation was still listed as farmer (U.S. Census). Combined real-estate value for him and his wife was $9,000. Source: George Cruger
