    • "...devised all his estate to his wife, Margaretta, also stipulating therein that his mother, Derike, should continue to reside at his home in New Utrecht, and to be provided with all necessary food and raiment in her circumstances ought to be, by his sole executrix, Margaretta. This document was recorded on the day following (April 23, 1697), together with a bond of 500 pounds, in which he firmly bound himslef to Henry Ffilkin, registrar, that he woudl n ot dispose of his property or revoke the said will. At this time he was childless and he may have returned to Holland or died without issue, the latter being the most probable." (Gen of Westervelt family, pg 11)

    • "Abraham bought a farm, situated on New Utrecht Lane in New Utrecht on April 5, 1697 from Nicholas van der Grift (as per Liber 2, folio 132, Con. King's Co.) and where he was assessed for 38 acres in 1700. Part of this property he sold to Anthony Holsart, Nov 12, 1705, with the consent of his mother, Dericke orDirckje, and to Reiner Van Sicklen, he sold his interest in a house and lot in Flatlands, probably the homestead of his father, Willem, also a 70 acre plot in Flatlands, next to the lands of Pieter Monfoort, and 10 acres on the palins next to Jan Damon, as per Van Sicklen papers, on Ocr. 22, 1707, he and his wife Margaret sold to Smauel Gerretse, of Gravesend, the remainder of the lands where he resided in New Utrecht, formerly purchased from Van der Grift in 1697, together with 12 acres of woodlands in Gravesned, purchased of Jacobus Kiersteed, for the sum of 200 pounds. This deed inlcuded 1 negro man named Mango, 5 horses, 15 cows, plate, beds, bedding, plows, waggons, harrows, &c. The day following his wife, Margaretta, repurchased all the above named property, both real and personal, the transaction being merely a trasfer of his whole state from himself to his wife."
