- Much of the information on the Outhouse family comes from Queen Perry's letters to Donald H. Jeffery, her lineage in, "Loyalist Lineages of Canada: 1783-1983", the lineages, in the same work, of David E. Johnson and Lt. Col. H. H. Minshall, and others. Also from David E. Johnson's, "The Johnson Generations", Reid's, "Loyalists of Ontario", notes with the Victoria Branch of the United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada and especially the notes of Mrs. N. E. Byrnes, of Lorain, Ohio passed on By David E. Johnson. While there is confusion and contradiction amongst these sources, I tend to rely on Mrs. Byrnes notes as the most advanced; but agree with David E. Johnson that it was Anna, not Sarah Anne, who married James Smith. SOURCE: http://members.tripod.com/robertflewelling/id21.htm OFG-I lists mrg "ca. 1750"

Notes |
- Elizabeth Flewelling married Nicholas Outhouse, originally Claas Van Uythuysen, son of Simon and Antje (Willems) Uythuysen. He is likely descended from the Simon Van Uythuysen who came to New Amsterdam as a gunner on a West India Company freighter in 1641, and is later the captain of, "The Flower of Gelder", out of New Amsterdam. Nicholas was born, probably in Westchester Co., 25SEP1726, and died near the Long Point area in Charlotteville Twp., Norfolk Co., ONT ca. 1810. If Robert Flewelling was born ca. 1712, and since Nicholas and Elizabeth's eldest child was born ca. 1748, then Elizabeth was probably born ca. 1730. Since their youngest child was born ca. 1774, and Nicholas married secondly Mary before he went to Ontario in 1794, then Elizabeth died very roughly about 1775-80. There was a Nicholas Outhouse in Haverstraw Twp., Orange Co. (now part of Rockland Co.), NY in the 1790 census. His daughter, Sarah, stated that she was born in Rockland Co., so this was probably him. (source: Descendants of Robert Flewelling. Source: Thomas Murray, "Descendants of Robert Flewelling."
