    • Maude was second wife to Archie Samuel Dixon. She had two sons by him. Archie had a son by a previous marriage. Maude Margaret Searles Dixon House Chitty stated repeatedly that her Grandmother was Lucinda Marsh. Lucinda was a Psychic who was always aware of the whereabouts and health status of all her children, siblings, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins etc. When one would die, she would shriek and swoon at that same time . She was also reported to have been a practicing Medium who held seances. Attempting to disassociate herself from such activities, she found that the "spirits" would not leave her alone.
Lucinda lived with one of her daughters. She went to visit another daughter at some distance journey from her home. On the trip, she was caught in a rainstorm, got drenched, and developed a cold. On arrival at her destination, Lucinda's daughter put her to bed. The cold had progressed to Pneumonia. Laying in bed, Lucinda recalled that there was a letter from one daughter to the other. Asking for her handbag , she appeared to take an invisible letter from it, then proceeded to read the contents of it outloud to those at her bedside. Folding the unseen letter, Lucinda returned it to her handbag, and expired shortly thereafter.
At the funeral, family members were relating anecdotes about Lucinda. The daughter at whose home Lucinda had expired said to her sister who had come to the funeral, "Mother did the strangest thing before she died. She read us a letter from you, telling us your news." Her sister replied, " I did write that letter, it's still on the mantlepiece over the fireplace at home." [1]
