Social interest upon the Hill and in the Bedford section centred on Thursday in the wedding of Alice Mabel, the daughter of Dr. James A. Blake, who was married to Walter Clinton Houghtaling, at the home of the bride's parents, at 352 Jefferson avenue at high noon. The Rev. John D. Blake, of Marshaltown, Del., the cousin of the bride, who years ago united the bride's father and mother in marriage, officiated at the ceremony, and was assisted by the Rev. Paul A. Houghtaling, brother of the bridegroom. Pink and white was the color scheme of this wedding, and the drawing rooms were luxuriously decorated for the occasion with bride and La France roses and banks of palms, and the delicate strains of the stringed instruments made a fitting setting for the beautiful bride. Miss Blake was girlishly charming in white satin, elabrately trimmed with point lace and wearing a diamond and pearl brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. She carried a shower bouquet of bride roses and maidenhair fern. The maid of honor, Miss Nellie Jackson, was frocked in white lace over pink, and carried La France roses. The ushers were Robert L. Houghtaling and Dr. J. Eddy Blake. Among the guests were: Mr. and Mrs. DeWitt C. Houghtaling, Dr. and Mrs. James A. Blake, Robert Houghtaling and George Houghtaling of Port Ewen, N.Y., Dr. George W. Houghtaling and Miss Ethel Houghtaling of Brooklyn; Miss R. Ingraham of Manhattan; Miss Alice Mead, Miss Hanna Mead, Miss Lillian Burlingame, Miss Mary Adams and Mrs. K. Kraft of Brooklyn. After a wedding breakfast the bride and groom departed on a trip which includes Northern New York and Niagara Falls. Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. Houghtaling will be at home at 352 Jefferson avenue upon the second and fourth Thursdays in October.
